Huh?

Ok, I'm no climatologists, but I find this headline confusing...

Global warming boost to glaciers

I thought the glaciers were melting because of global warming. Well, according to the article:

"They found warmer winters and cooler summers, combined with more snow and rainfall, could be causing some mountain glaciers to increase in size."

So, the glaciers, which are made of ice, are growing because of warmer temperatures? I should have gone to college, because I'm completely lost. Do these scientist, that we depend on for information know what the hell they're talking about?

I found this as well. It appears glacier growth is also happening in California. From this article:

"During the last 50 years, glaciers on the summit of Mt. Shasta in northern California have bulked up, according to Ian Howat of the University of California, Santa Cruz. Howat and a team of earth scientists from UCSC traveled to the summit of Mt. Shasta a few years ago to predict the expiration date of small glaciers on Mt. Shasta. Instead, they found the glaciers had grown since 1951, and the largest, Whitney Glacier, had advanced about one kilometer during that time."

Again, I thought the glaciers were melting and that was going to cause wide spread death and destruction. But wait, it gets better...

Mars Is Warming, NASA Scientists Report

Global warming on Mars? What's causing that? Too many Martians driving Martian SUVs?

Seems to me, nobody knows what the hell they're talking about. In the 70's, we were facing another ice age because of global cooling. Now, the glaciers are growing because of global warming. Make up my mind for crying out loud.

You know what I think? I think human scientist are some of the most egotistical beings in the universe. They say we humans can have an effect on the weather of a planet that has been around for 57 zillion years. That's a fairly egotistical assumption considering we've only learned to accurately measure weather in the last 200 years. And, we still can't predict weather for tomorrow, much less a hundred years from now.

Ask a scientist, he'll probably tell you we're the only form of intelligent life in all the universe, and there is no God. Well, I've been told my entire life, you can't prove a negative. Is there proof of NO other intelligent life in the universe? Is there proof there is no God? Not if you can't prove a negative.

I don't know what the answers are. I don't know if global warming, or cooling or whatever, is the result of human activity. I don't know if we're the only intelligent life in the universe. But I do know, it's fairly egotistical to assume we are the only intelligent life in all the vastness of space. It's fairly egotistical to think we can have an effect on the weather of a planet that has been around for as long as this one. Especially, when they now tell us there is global warming on Mars as well.

You know what, until you can prove it, shut the hell up and quit trying to scare people into buying a car that goes 0 to 60 in about 2 days.

Chicago Dictates "No Goose For You!"

Goose Nazi's get their way in Chicago...

CHICAGO — These are dangerous times for ducks and geese in Chicago.

With the city's ban on foie gras — a delicacy made of duck or goose liver — just days away from going into effect, upscale restaurants in the city are serving it up like never before. They have put together special menus with names like "Foie Gras, Farewell To Our Good Friend" featuring that friend in course after course — searing it, chilling it, throwing it into salads and turning it into sauce.

Oh, let's not stop with foie gras, let's ban smoking, trans fats, and cell phones while driving too...

CHICAGO — If you're a cell phone-using, goose liver-eating, cigarette-smoking, fast food-loving person, Chicago might not be your kind of town.

In this city that once winked at Prohibition, members of the City Council are trying to crack down on things they deem unhealthy, immoral or just plain annoying.

A proposal that would restrict fast-food chains from cooking with artery-clogging trans fat oils got a public airing last week, and in the past year alone aldermen have banned smoking in nearly all public places and the use of cell phones while driving.

In April, Chicago became the first U.S. city to outlaw the sale of foie gras, a goose liver delicacy that is decried by animal-rights activists because it is created by force-feeding birds to fatten up their livers.

Ok, what is going on in Chicago? They also recently passed a law that would require the 'big box' stores, (i.e. Target, Wal-Mart) to pay a required "Living Wage" for all employees, prompting Target to pull out of a major development deal that would have brought one Chicago neighborhood loads of jobs and tax revenue. And now it's smoking, cell phones and goose liver?

I know this may seem like a silly story to care about. I don't know how many people actually eat this Foie Gras stuff, I don't think I'd like it. But I do have a question:

Have they completely forgotten what it means to be free?

Haditha Marine to File Lawsuit Against Congressman Murtha

And who could blame him...

Thanks to the ladies at Code Red for this one.

Frank D. Wuterich, the Marine Corp staff sergeant in charge of the squad accused of killing civilians in Haditha, Iraq will file a defamation lawsuit against Congressman Murtha today.

Attorneys for Frank D. Wuterich, 26, argue in court papers that Murtha tarnished the Marine's reputation by telling news organizations in May that the Marine unit cracked after a roadside bomb killed one of its members and that the troops "killed innocent civilians in cold blood." Murtha also said repeatedly that the incident was covered up. (source)

This was Congressman Murtha speaking to ABC'S Charlie Gibson back in May: "This is what the Marine Corps told me at the highest level. The Commandant of the Marine Corps was in my office just last week, so you know. I know there was a cover-up someplace. They knew about this a few days afterwards and there’s no question the chain of command tried to stifle the story. I can understand why, but that doesn’t excuse it. Something like this has to be brought out to the public, and the people have to be punished....There’s no question in my mind about what happened here. There was no gunfire. They killed four people in a taxi and then in addition to that, they went into the rooms and killed them. And I don’t know how many were involved in it, but it’s something that we cannot excuse. I can understand it, but it can’t be excused... The commandant said it was a very serious incident. He was not going to tell me it was murder, but everything looked to him just like it looks to me. He didn’t say that in so many words, but he told me exactly what happened."

In the court filing, obtained by The Washington Post, the lawyers say that Murtha made the comments after being briefed by Defense Department officials who "deliberately provided him with inaccurate and false information." Neal A. Puckett and Mark S. Zaid, suing for libel and invasion of privacy, also wrote that Murtha made the comments outside of his official scope as a congressman.

Wuterich's attorney said this case is not about money but rather clearing the name of Wuterich and to"identify where these leaks are coming from...Congressman Murtha has created this atmosphere that has already concluded guilt. He's created this environment that really smells, and he's the only one who has done that."

Interesting. Do you think maybe this was a setup from the get-go? Could the Commandant of the Marine Corps given Murtha just a enough rope to hang himself and Murtha then jumped at the chance? Oh, if that's the case, that has to be the sweetest political maneuver in the history of man...
