Prius Battery Production Destroys Canadian Environment

Some more irony for you...

So you've all heard how good driving a hybrid car is for the environment. The enviro-weenies have told us time and time again that SUV's are bad and we should all be driving hybrid cars. Even Al Gore has purchased a hybrid and advises others to do the same. I know some states have offered temporary tax breaks to those that purchase hybrids to encourage drivers to do just that.

But here's the problem. Take a good look at this picture:

According to The Mail on Sundays, a British webpage, "Toyota gets the metal from a Canadian company whose smelting facility at Sudbury has spewed sulphur dioxide into the air for more than a century."

And the true irony: "Fumes emerging from the factory are so poisonous that they have destroyed vegetation in the surrounding countryside, turning the once-beautiful landscape into the bare, rocky terrain astronauts might expect to find in outer space."

Not only does the Nickel plant destroy the surrounding environment, but get this.

"Once the nickel is smelted it is sent 10,000 miles on a container ship journey which in itself consumes vast quantities of fuel and energy."

It would seem to me that the energy required to produce these hybrid cars plus, the energy required to charge their environmentally unfriendly batteries, far outweigh any possible energy savings the car is supposed to bring about.

Once again, we've proved Quinn's theory, Liberalism generates the exact opposite of its stated intent.

Ellison Uses Thomas Jefferson's Quran

Liberals. They crack me up...

You may have heard about the controversy surrounding Minnesota Representative Keith Ellison's decision to use a Quran to take his oath of office in a private swearing in ceremony. A lot of people on my side of the isle threw quite a fit over it. Personally, I couldn't care less. I'd take my oath on the Marine Corps Basic Skills Training Manual as I've read it more than any other book. The funny think about this controversy is that Ellison said he chose to use Jefferson's Quran because it showed that "a visionary like Jefferson" believed that wisdom could be gleaned from many sources. And the liberals just thought that was a slam against conservatives that were opposed to the idea. They were all overjoyed at the "in your face" statement Ellison was making to conservatives.

The truth is, as Ted Sampley of the US Veterans Dispatch illustrates, Thomas Jefferson, our third President and one of the Founding Fathers actually had to wage war against Muslim Pirates enslavers who were attacking African villages, European and American merchant ships, and taking prisoners and turning them into slaves. You ever hear of the Barbary Pirates? That's right boys and girls, they were Muslims. Where do you think the line "To the shores of Tripoli" came from? That's right, Thomas Jefferson's war against the Barbary Pirates. So it seems to me, he owned a copy of the Quran so he could know his enemy. I guess, he did gain some wisdom from that book. The wisdom he needed to kick some Muslim ass.

You have to appreciate the irony here. Here we have the first Muslim member of Congress trying to make a political statement by using a Quran owned by Thomas Jefferson and it was Thomas Jefferson that led the first American military victory against Islam. It truly is a thing of beauty.

And just one more thing. Jefferson's copy of the Quran was an English translation and Jefferson himself was not a Muslim. I thought non-Muslims were forbidden from reading or touching the Quran. And I'm wondering if placing your hand on a translated version of the Quran once owned by an infidel is considered blasphemy under Islamic Law? I mean, if drawing a cartoon of Muhammad created such an outrage, I would think taking an oath of office on a Quran once owned and probably read by an infidel would make them absolutely nuts. But that's just a guess...

American Troops Retreat at the Freaking Border

I'm so freakin' pissed off at this story I can't even see straight...

Guardsmen overrun at the Border

"A U.S. Border Patrol entry Identification Team site was overrun Wednesday night along Arizona's border with Mexico.According to the Border Patrol, an unknown number of gunmen attacked the site in the state's West Desert Region around 11 p.m.

The site is manned by National Guardsmen. Those guardsmen were forced to retreat."

Forced to retreat? Are you freaking kidding me? You read that headline and those first two paragraphs and you instantly think our troops got their asses kicked and gave up their position. Well, they gave up their position, but not because they got their asses kicked. They gave up their position because that's what they are supposed to do, on orders from the Governor of Arizona.

If you watch This Video, after the advertisement, a spokesman for the Governor tells the reporter the National Guard troops did exactly what they were supposed to do. This situation was actually predicted and the government's answer for armed individuals coming across the border, tuck tail and run for safety.

We've got American troops on the border and they're being used, not to prevent intruders, but to watch for them and are restricted from defending themselves against armed invaders. That's right, I said it, INVADERS! We are being invaded on our southern perimeter and our men in uniform are prevented from doing what they've taken an oath to do; protect us from invaders.

In This Video, it's stated that it's possible this may have been a tactic to gain information as to what our troops would do if they were approached by armed gunmen. And what will they do? They'll walk away. And it's very clear, not only Mexican drug runners but our enemies, that we're more concerned with not having violence than we are about protecting our border. Let me tell you something, a society that is not willing to confront violence with violence, cannot stand.

Now, I want you to think about a few things.

You may recall the story of two border control guards that are going to jail for shooting a drug smuggler in the butt. In that case, our government in all their wisdom gave the drug smuggler immunity so he would testify against our own border patrol agents.

We have a Bill waiting to be signed by the President, that if it becomes law, illegal aliens will qualify for Social Security benefits after working here ILLEGALLY for only 18 months. That is if they come to the government, provide them with the ILLEGAL identification, the ILLEGALLY obtained and phony social security number that they've been using, they will then qualify for benefits. And just so you know, according to the story, legal immigrants have to work for 10 years before qualifying for benefits of our social security system.

One more little tidbit, the Mexican government has passed a bill that will issue some 200,000 GPS devices to immigrants looking to cross the border into the US illegally. This device will aid them in their trip and if they should get sick or lost, they can activate a type of homing beacon that will enable border patrol agents to come to their aid. Well, isn't that nice...

So here we have an armed incursion into our country that cannot be confronted by our troops. We have the Mexican government issuing GPS devices to make it easier for the illegals to get here. We have border patrol agents going to jail for shooting an armed drug smuggler, who by the way received immunity from prosecution from OUR GOVERNMENT for his testimony against our border patrol agents. And we're trying to give social security benefits to people who enter this country ILLEGALLY.

What the hell is wrong with this picture? Are we out of our freaking minds? We are at war and this is how we protect our perimeter? Ladies and gentlemen, we are asking, no we are begging for our country to be hit again. Not only are we being invaded by Mexico by people that are just "seeking a better life," but we have armed gunmen confronting our troops who are only allowed to retreat. We're imprisoning those who do their job of protecting the border and we're actually considering paying illegal aliens social security benefits. Have we completely lost our minds?

We better wake up, shake off the fear of being labeled anti-Mexican, and secure our damned border. I don't know how else to say it people, we're screwing ourselves slowly but surely.

Paintball Sickness

And at my age, it must be a sickness for me to keep doing it...

Now that the holidays are over, football is coming to a close (and is done for my beloved Steelers) it's time to start getting ready for my annual paintball outing with the boys. Some of you have undoubtedly viewed the pictures of previous paintball outings here on the Nightmare. Every year, some buddies and I get together, blast eachother with paintballs for a few hours, consume mass quantities of beer, and cook meat with fire. It's a great time.
